Country Bumpkin Reunion Night is a resounding success
A trip down memory lane was taken at the Andover Masonic Hall recently when nearly 200 people attend a reunion of famous Andover nightspot The Country Bumpkin.
Organised by Events and Community Fundraiser Liz Cosgrove, as a fundraiser for disability charity Enham, the event on the 18th November 2011 attracted many former Bumpkin clubbers who travelled from as far afield as Leeds and Liverpool.
Those attending were eager to revisit past memories, many looking for old friends and faces to reconnect with and they were not disappointed!
Tickets were checked by original doorman Harry Painter (now in his 80’s) who was most definitely the star of the show, still fitting into the dinner suit he wore at the time, Harry has kept the glove he used to slip on when “things were hotting up”
Pictures of original staff and the opening night adorned the walls and with fantastic music provided by original DJ’s Graham Hunter, Steve Hough and Humphrey Williams, who kindly gave their services free of charge to help the fundraising, party goers danced the night away and raised £1,226 for Enham
This successful event is set to be repeated next year, for more information, please register your interest by emailing Liz Cosgrove at liz.cosgrove@enham.org.uk

George Blight
The sad news has reached us that George Blight passed away on Friday morning 27th March 2009.
This image was kindly sent to me in memory of him from all his family in Andover.
The funeral details are:- Thursday 9th April, 11.30 at St Mary's church, followed by burial at Weyhill cemetary.
If you ever visited the Bumpkin George would have been one of the staff that you would have seen around the dance floor keeping things in order and sorting out any problems.
I can remember George on my visits to the Bumpkin, an imposing figure, and as seen in this photo always smartly dressed with a bow tie and jacket (smart dress only in the Bumpkin)
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

Did You Play At TCB

Did you ever perform at The Country Bumpkin?.
Perhaps you were a musician in a local group trying to make it into the big time or just playing for fun.
Did your company have a Christmas party at The Country Bumpkin and they had you as the entertainment for the night
Or were you one of the regular DJ that appeared or did just one "gig" at The Country Bumpkin
Perhaps you don't appear on the site, for one reason or another, but you performed at The Country Bumpkin and want to be included and you want to put the record straight, right! Or you have some details of interest or want to share your memories of your time there.
