Bumpkin “Hold-Up” Gang
Police seek Country Bumpkin “Hold-Up” Gang.
A reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the three people who got away with about £150 in a raid on an Andover club late on Friday night.
A man walked up to the cashier’s desk at the Country Bumpkin Club in East Street with what appeared to be a gun in his pocket.
The doorman, Mr. Harry Painter, was at the desk with the cashier, Mrs Kathleen Margaret Green, of Bury Hill Close, Anna Valley.
The man told Mr. Painter: “This is a gun – give me the money.”
Mr Painter, of Picket Piece, handed over about £150 in notes and the man ran off, accompanied by another man and a young woman.
Police tracker dogs made an unsuccessful search of the area.

Tony P. Remembers...On the night of the hold up I was attending a Transport Association Dinner and Dance at the Polygon Hotel in Southampton (Now turned into Flats).
I was quite surprised when asked to go to reception and was informed by the Police, there had been a robbery at the Bumpkin. They were never caught.
There was only one other burglary at the club when someone broke in and attempted to empty the cigarette machines.
They got away with very little, we think they were disturbed during the robbery and had made a quick exit.
