Need Input

Johnny 5 is very curious and inquisitive robot from the film "Short Circuit" with an almost insatiable thirst for "input" of just about any kind
So this section is where I need "Input" or any suggestions for content that could be used for future articles on this website
Typical examples for future content might be "People that used to work at TCB", or "other events that took place at TCB"
Does anybody know the history of the "Bumpkin Man"? the man that appears at the top right hand corner of the page.
The original, which always appeared in the "Andover Advertiser" when promoting a function, was in black & white so the coloured one that you see here is my interpretation of the man
The wording "Country Bumpkin" was also in a different font to the one that appears at the top of this site
Also I have seen two versions of the "Bumpkin Man", the one where he is dressed in his working clothes, the other in a nice three piece suit!

So start scratching your heads because, as Johnny 5 says "Input, I need input"

I have been reliably informed that both versions of the “Bumpkin Man” figure head was the idea of Lance Barrett, a Director of the Country Bumpkin.
(My thanks to Tony Pickernell for the information)

I played at the Bumpkin a couple of times in I think, 1976, with a local band called The Reasons Y, I would have been 16 or 17 then. We were a support act/group and I remember a band playing after us that same night called Arms & Legs, the main act being Bert Weedon. Also I can vaguely recall watching a really excellent group who did impressions of other bands/singers, Barry White, T.rex, Jimi Hendrix etc.. not sure who they were, they may have even been Arms and Legs? The guitarist was brilliant, I do remember that. A long time ago...

Just remembered, the band doing the impressions were called Crackers. 76, 77,? ? Don't know.

hi again i used to work along side george years ago on the council people used to take us for brothers both ugly buggers ha ha
Hi Geoff thanks for your input.
I was at TCB on the nights you mention above and yes the band were very good.
MR Glitter had a sore throat, I’m lead to believe, on the night but the band decided to play on without him as not to disappoint the queuing people.
Have you any old photo's that i could put on the site from those Bumpkin day?

This is so cool and strange i was researching my grandfather Lance Barrett in google and things like this came up, just to say he is well, alive! :) and still talking about the country bumkin.
Hi Emily, if you have any information or photo's etc of The Country Bumpkin i would be grateful if you could contact me through the "contact" link at the top of the page. Your grandfather, Lance Barrett, is always mentioned whenever i talk to people who had any dealings with TCB.
