Why?
The big question, why set up this site? A few people, well ok everybody, said why do you want to do that?
Why spend your time crawling through hundred of copies of old Andover Advertisers.
One reason was that in 2008 it well be nearly 25 years since TCB burnt down and also, from a personal point, I’ve reached another mile stone in reaching 50 years of age.
Both events are important to me, mostly nostalgia from TCB point of view, but having spent most of my early working years visiting the night spot, it was a very integral part of my youth as well
I think the first time I visited TCB was between 1974 and 1976, as I was still at school and I think it was a private function of some sort. I went along with my older brother
I think it’s more of "you never know what you had until it's gone" scenarios. Most of the well known chart acts; DJ of the time would appear at TCB.

With a place in The Guinness Book Of Records, Raving Rupert is, after all, the longest running tribute act in the world and he appeared at TCB on Friday 12th Sept 1975
Geno Washington
Geno Washington is the "Geno" of Dexys Midnight Runners' eponymous 1980 single and he appeared at TCB on Friday 18th Sept 1975
Radio 1 DJ Road Shows
Amazingly The Country Bumpkin had, over the years of its existence, some of the biggest names from the world of Radio, entertaining the crowds with their road shows.
Kid Jenson, Paul Burnett, Peter Powell, Simon Bates, Mike Reid, Steve Wright, Dave Lee Travis, Adrian Juste, Noel Edmonds just to name a few!
