Bumpkin Club Talks Go On
NEGOTIATIONS OVER A NEW HOME FOR Andover’s Country Bumpkin Club – destroyed by fire last year – are to continue.
It follows a joint approach for legal advice over a proposed land exchange by solicitors for the club and Test Valley Council.
The idea is that the club should move to land at Enham Arch, and the council should take over its present site in East Street for housing.
But a problem arose in agreeing valuations, depending on the planning permission, which might be obtained for the East Street land.
Counsel advised that a figure could be agreed between the council’s valuation for residential purposes and the club’s figure based on entertainment use.
The two sides are due to meet again next week in the hope of reaching agreement.
