Put the Bumpkin on stilts says Lewis

Put the Bumpkin on stilts says Lewis Liberal councillor Craig Lewis has an unusual solution to the problem of where to site the new Country Bumpkin nightclub in Andover.

To startled members of the policy and resources committee he made the suggestion to put a new building in West Street car park on stilts.

The councillor says the area is devoid of housing, the stilts suggestion would mean that the few parking spaces would be lost and the area is easy to police.
“I am against Enham Arch site because there are complaints from residents and nearby businesses and fears about possible muggings and I object to the access on the roundabout which takes fast traffic from roads in all directions.

“The Country Bumpkin would be offered a prime site in the town. Maybe the cost of putting it on stilts would be prohibitive, then the building could be built direct on the car park and to make up for the parking spaces lost the old Bumpkin site could be used as a park”.
Officers will be investigating Cllr Lewis’s suggestion.
